When you pick up a Far Cry game you know your going to get an interesting story, great game mechanics and an all round unique experience you won’t find anywhere else. And Far Cry 5 is no exception to the rule. The game is set in the fictional American county of Hope County, which has been occupied by a religious cult head by a man known as The Father. Players are dropped into Hope County as a deputy aiding a US Marshal who disregards the warnings of local law enforcement and attempts to arrest The Father. Arriving in The Father’s compound via helicopter you take The Father into custody but not for long as things quickly get out of hand and you are forced to flee into the wilderness of Hope County. From there you are picked up by a local prepper named Dutch who gives you the task of liberating Hope County as well as gives you instructions on how to go about it.
Dutch’s tiny island essentially acts as a tutorial giving you the basic skills you’ll need to liberate Hope County. In order to do this you must defeat 3 members of the Seed Family before you can get your revenge on The Father. Sounds easy right? Wrong! To liberate each region from the three region heads, Jacob, John and Faith you must complete missions and help the local residence rid the county of the Eden’s Gate cult. Tasks range from taking over outposts, rescuing civilians and blowing stuff up as well as some more mundane tasks such as collecting certain items. Missions can approached one of two ways, a more traditional run and gun style allowing you to unleash a wide range of weapons and explosives at your disposal or you can be subtler and use stealth to pick off targets from a far, sabotage equipment and set up ambushes.

These regions are by no means small and as such there are various vehicles such as cars, planes, helicopters and even boats that help you traverse the three regions that all have there own environmental factors. You can even deploy a parachute or wing suit once unlocked in the perk tree system that provides extra abilities for you character as you progress through the game. Along with perks there are several characters and weapons you can utilise during your time in Hope County adding an extra element to consider when tackling missions.
Final Thoughts
There is much more to Fry Cry than first meets the eye when you first enter Hope County you may feel rather over whelmed. But the game progresses at a decent pace so you don’t feel to rushed into anything you might not be ready for. Having said that if you wish to jump right into the deep end then the game doesn’t stop you from doing this either.
There is plenty of collectables, side missions and things to destroy in-between mission all of which can be enjoyed alone or with friends in co-op where we found new inventive ways to hunt animals, shoot cultist and set the world on fire! Literally on fire! Fry Cry 5 is a fun, often wacky game with simple game play mechanics and a in depth world that will keep you busy for many hours and is a game you should defiantly pick up sooner rather than later!
